These figures climb to 53,356 (+54.7%) for the month and 221,005 (+31.9%) year-to-date when adding Hyundai and VinFast who report separately from VAMA. Toyota (+105.9%) advances to the brands top spot with a splendid 19.8% share vs. 17.2% so far this year. It topples Thaco-Kia (+83.8%) also in fine form at 18.9% of the market. Usually fighting for the top spot, Hyundai (+7.2%) is slower this year at only 12.2% share for the month. Honda (+123.8%), Mazda (+81.2%) and Peugeot (+165.8%) also outrace the market further down.

Over in the models ranking, thanks to its facelift the Toyota Vios (+117.3%) reaffirms the dominance it had over the Vietnamese market up to the Full Year 2020 and now also ranks #1 year-to-date. The Mitsubishi Xpander (+34.6%) is up seven spots on April to #2 but trails the market year-on-year. Same situation for the VinFast Fadil (+2.2%) up five ranks on last month to #3 but shy year-on-year. The Mazda CX-5 (+176.9%) and Toyota Avanza+Veloz (+91550%) also show explosive growth just below. The Toyota Corolla Cross (+124.4%) loses its YTD leadership to the Vios, while the Ford Ranger (+111%) and Kia K3 (+92.5%) perform in the remainder of the Top 10.
