Luxembourg April 2022: Peugeot (+48%) snaps lead in market off -22.8%

Peugeot April sales are up 48% in a market down -22.8%.

New car sales in Luxembourg drop a harsh -22.8% year-on-year in April to just 3,341 units, leading to a year-to-date tally off -12.5% to 14,688. Peugeot (+48%) surges ahead with the biggest year-on-year gain in the Top 10 to lead the brands ranking for the first time since we started following Luxembourg monthly sales in July 2018. The French carmaker holds 11.9% of the market vs. 8.5% so far this year. BMW (-21.1%) is up three spots on last month to end April at #2 with 10.3% share vs. 8.1% YTD. Leader in March, Mercedes (-31.2%) takes a hit and falls to #3. Still #1 year-to-date, Volkswagen (-50.2%) does even worse and drops to #4 with 8.2% share vs. 10.8% so far this year. Fiat (+26.6%) and Opel (+10.4%) are the only additional gainers in the Top 10 just as Skoda (-50.8%) flounders. Further down, Dacia (+95.3%), Porsche (+62.3%), Smart (+50%), Cupra (+36.8%) and DS (+30.8%) stand out.
