Croatia March 2022: Hyundai Tucson, Opel Mokka, Kia Xceed lead, sales off -6.8%

The Hyundai Tucson is the best-selling vehicle in Croatia for the first time.

The Croatian new car market slows down its fall to -6.8% year-on-year in March to 3,882 registrations, meaning the year-to-date volume is now off -7.2% to 9,763. This month Kia (+48.3%) surges to the lead of the brands ranking for the third time in the past seven months with a round 10% share. It overtakes Skoda (-42.7%) down to #2 and Volkswagen (-47%) down to #4, both manufacturers imploding. Opel (+101.2%) is up five spots on February to #3 with Toyota (+76%) and Ford (+358.5%) also posting surreal gains at #5 and #6. Hyundai (-29%) varies in opposite direction as its sister brand Kia, while Mazda (+42.7%) soars but remains at #9. Jeep (+231.8%) and Cupra (+81.3%) make themselves noticed further down.

Over in the models ranking, we have an unheard of trio in the lead with all three nameplates breaking their Croatian ranking record. The Hyundai Tucson (-3.8%) is #1 for the very first time with 3.2% share, four units below the Opel Mokka surges seven spots on February to #2 and the Kia Xceed (+253.1%) is up eight to #3. The Dacia Sandero (+59.7%) and Duster (-51%) follow, with the Kia Stonic (-5.2%) up two ranks to #6. The Skoda Scala at #7 and the Ford S-Max at #8 (!) make a thunderous entrance inside the Top 10 with the Jeep Compass (+278.9%) and Toyota Corolla (+125%) securing stellar gains below. Still leader year-to-date, the Skoda Octavia (-62.6%) is down to #11 this month.
