Bulgaria March 2022: Renault Clio topples Toyota Corolla in market up 14.6%

The Renault Clio is the best-selling vehicle in Bulgaria in March.

New light vehicle sales in Bulgaria gain 14.6% year-on-year in March to 3,086 units, meaning the Q1 2022 tally is now up 12.4% to 7,798. The top 4 manufacturers easily outpace the market Toyota (+46.6%) leads the way with 13.9% share, followed by Renault (+33.7%), Peugeot (+51%) and Kia (+116%). Volkswagen (+6.3%) is more timid while Dacia (-52.5%) implodes due to the discontinuation of the Dokker which was a best-seller here. Ford (+113.9%) and Mercedes (+38.9%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Skoda (-40.1%) and Citroen (-19.1%) both struggle. Below, Suzuki (+131.3%), Audi (+110%) and Hyundai (+92.1%) stand out.

Model-wise, the Renault Clio (+38.3%) is up three spots on February to topple the Toyota Corolla (+35.8%) from the #1 ranking even though the Corolla remains the best-seller YTD. The Toyota C-HR (+128.6%) remains in third place and advances to #2 YTD. It distances the Peugeot 208 (+845.5%), Kia Ceed (+494.1%) and Ford Transit/Custom (+283.3%) all sporting spectacular upticks. The Kia Sportage (+102.3%) follows meaning the Top 7 models outpace the market. The VW T-Roc (+96.9%) also does so in the remainder of the Top 10. The Toyota Yaris Cross (#25) tops recent launches ahead of the Renault Express (#29) – definitely not following the steps of the Dacia Dokker, the VW Taigo (#39) and the Dacia Jogger (#49).
