Argentina March 2022: Peugeot (+30.3%), Citroen (+30%) defy market off -6.3%

Peugeot 208 Argentinean sales are up 49.5% year-on-year in March.

New vehicle sales in Argentina drop -6.3% year-on-year in March to 34,302 units, leading to a year-to-date volume down -8.1% to 106,765. Toyota (-1.2%) beats the market to repeat at #1 and snap the #1 ranking year-to-date also. Fiat (+3.4%) and Renault (+4%) go against the market with small year-on-year increases but the best performer in the Top 10 is to be found just below: Peugeot is up a fantastic 30.3% to #4 overall. Apart from Citroen (+30%) and Nissan (+8.3%) all remaining Top 10 carmakers are down, with Volkswagen (-54.4%), Chevrolet (-33.8%) and Ford (-31%) the hardest hit. Below, notice Agrale (+74%), BMW (+42.9%), Kia (+37.7%) and Hyundai (+28.3%) all posting sizeable gains in the remainder of the Top 20.

Over in the models ranking, the Fiat Cronos (+17.4%) defies the negative market to tighten its grip on the charts with 10.9% share, ahead of the Toyota Hilux (-9.3%) falling faster than the market and the Peugeot 208 (+49.5%) in great shape thanks to the new generation. The VW Amarok (-5.6%) posts a shy drop ahead of the Toyota Etios (+4%) and a euphoric Chevrolet Cruze (+80.2%). The Renault Kangoo (+108.5%) and Sandero (+101.8%) both more than double their volumes year-on-year. The Toyota Corolla Cross (#11) is the most popular recent launch in the country, distancing the VW Taos (#17), Ford Maverick (#45), Jeep Commander (#47) and Ford Bronco (#54). This month we welcome the Fiat Pulse at #109.
