The Austrian new car market sinks -18.9% year-on-year in February to just 16,103 sales, leading to a year-to-date volume off -6.7% to 31,722. Volkswagen (-46%) keeps the lead of the brands ranking despite a steep fall, ending the month only 60 sales above Skoda (-18.8%). Audi (+16.1%) and BMW (+5.4%) challenge the negative market to close the Top 5 in impressive fashion. Kia (+34.4%) and Toyota (+61.8%) are the only additional gainers in the Top 10, with Ford (-44.6%), Seat (-40.5%), Renault (-29.2%) and Mercedes (-24.9%) all falling faster than the market. Below and in order of sales, notice Tesla (+20.2%), Cupra (+162.1%), Mini (+27%), Honda (+25.3%), MG (+110.8%), Subaru (+105.9%) and Lexus (+360%) all in great shape.

Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (-34.8%) reclaims the top spot for the third time in the past four month despite falling apart, it is followed by the Tesla Model Y up to a record #2 and eclipsing its previous best of #3 hit last November. The Model Y also breaks its volume and ranking records this month. The Toyota Yaris (+92.5%) is in impressive shape and gains four spots on January to land at #3 above the Skoda Fabia (-28.6%) and VW Polo (-36.3%). The Peugeot 3008 (+105.5%) comes from outside the January Top 20 directly to #7 partly thanks to its facelift. The Audi A3 (+97.5%), Suzuki S-Cross (+78.3%), VW Bus (+44%) and Mini Cooper (+27%) also make themselves noticed in the remainder of the Top 20.
