Kuwait Full Year 2021: Toyota Land Cruiser threepeats at #1, Nissan Sunny and Chevrolet Captiva shine in market up 21.7%

The Kuwaiti new vehicle market soars 21.7% year-on-year in 2021 to 101,818 registrations. Toyota (+4.1%) can’t keep up with the market growth but easily retains the top spot with 28.8% share vs. 33.6% a year ago. The podium is unchanged on 2020 with Nissan (+45.1%) vastly outpacing the market and Chevrolet (+20.6%) almost matching it. Mitsubishi (+32.5%) overtakes Kia (+1.4%) to take the 4th place, while MG (+47.5%), Ford (+31.6%) and Honda (+23.9%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10. Geely (+106.9%), Peugeot (+84.8%), Land Rover (+84.5%), Suzuki (+79.5%) and Jeep (+75.5%) also show off below. Great Wall lands at #27, Haval at #28 and Jetour at #37.
The Toyota Land Cruiser (-6.6%) threepeats at #1 but sees its market share drop almost two percentage points to 6.1%. In contrast the Nissan Sunny (+125.5%) is up four spots to #2 with the Toyota Camry (-3.8%) and Prado (-19.5%) in tow. The Nissan Patrol (+50.1%) is in outstanding shape but remains in 5th place. The Chevrolet Captiva (aka Baojun 530) is up 65.5% and three ranks to #6 ahead of the Toyota Hilux (+22.9%) and Mitsubishi Pajero (+26.9%). The Toyota Hiace (+76.9%) also shines at #9. Below, the Land Rover Defender (+414.5%), Jeep Grand Cherokee (+383.5%), Changan CS85 (+250.2%) and GMC Sierra (+107.4%) all post surreal gains. The best-selling 2021 launches are the Great Wall Poer (#85), Mitsubishi Xpander (#90) and Toyota Corolla Cross (#95).
