Belarus Full Year 2021: Lada (+12.8%) tightens grip on market hit -11.2%

The antediluvian Lada Niva Legend sales are up 151.4% year-on-year in 2021.

After losing -18.2% in 2020, the Belorussian new car market falls a further -11.2% this year to 46,837 registrations. Lada (+12.8%) goes against the negative trend to tighten its grip on the brands charts with 24.9% share vs. 19.6% last year. In contrast Geely (-19.1%) goes from 17.4% share in 2020 to 15.9% this year. Volkswagen (-16%) gains one spot to #3 despite falling faster than the market, that’s because Renault (-39.5%) falls even faster to #4. Kia (+4.1%) remains in 5th place, with Nissan (+83.6%) and UAZ (+40.1%) posting the largest gains in the Top 10 whereas Skoda (-68%) endures the steepest fall. Mitsubishi (+200%), Haval (+111%), Audi (+54.5%) and BMW (+36.3%) also impress further down.

The Geely Atlas Pro appears in the 2021 ranking at #14.

The Lada Vesta (+3.7%) is the most popular vehicle in Belarus for the 4th consecutive year and improves to 10.3% share this year. The VW Polo (-21%) remains #2 at 7.1% while the Kia Rio (+8.4%) is up one spot to #4 and the Geely Coolray (+40%) ends its first full year of sales in the country at #4. Outstanding result for the 43 years-old Lada Niva Legend (+151.4%) up 13 spots to #5 overall. The Renault Duster (+30.8%) and Lada Largus (+3.4%) are the only additional gainers in the Top 10 just as the Geely Atlas (-58%), Lada Granta (-15.7%) and Hyundai Creta (-13.1%) suffer. Geely manages to place 6 models in the Top 22: add the Tugella at #13, the Atlas Pro at #14, the GS at #20 and the Emgrand X7 at #22.
