Greece Full Year 2021: Toyota Yaris and Peugeot 208 top market up 24.6%

After freefalling -29% in 2020, new car sales in Greece shoot back up 24.6% in 2021 to 100,911 registrations. Brand leader Toyota (+28.3%) slightly outpaces the market to improve its share to 13% while Peugeot (+33.5%) and Hyundai (+68.6%) do even better just below. Volkswagen (+8.3%) underperforms and is knocked out of the podium to 4th place. Opel (+15.1%) stays in 5th above Citroen (+37.6%) and Suzuki (+31.2%) both in good shape. Kia (+90.9%) scores the largest gain in the Top 10 with BMW (+32.6%) also strong at #10. Nissan (-18.6%) freefalls from #6 to #11. Tesla (+2627.3%), Mazda (+113.7%), Jeep (+58.7%), Land Rover (+55.1%), Dacia (+38.4%) and Audi (+31.4%) also shine further down while Cupra (+11700%) ends its first full year in market at #28.

Model-wise, the Toyota Yaris (+5.6%) scores a 9th consecutive annual win but sees its share drop from 5.6% to 4.7%. It ranked #1 six times: from January to April and in July and August. The Peugeot 208 (+26.8%) matches the market and gains two spots on 2020 to end the year at #2 (it ranked #1 in May) ahead of the Citroen C3 (+72.1%) up four to #3. The Opel Corsa (+14.7%) is down one rank to #4 but topped the monthly charts in June and September The Peugeot 2008 (+89.3%) surges 7 spots to #5, it ranked #1 in October and November. The Toyota C-HR (+52.7%) follows at #6 and was #1 in December. The remainder of the Top 10 all beat the market: the Kia Stonic (+139.5%), Hyundai i20 (+80.6%), Hyundai i10 (+44.3%) and Toyota Aygo (+41.9%) all deliver fantastic scores.
