Ireland November 2021: Toyota monopolises podium in market up 23.1%

The Toyota Yaris Cross ranks #2 in Ireland in November.

The Irish new car market usually dies down as the year ends, in anticipation of the new licence plates delivered in January, and 2021 is no exception, with just 1,124 registrations in November. That’s a 23.1% year-on-year surge leading the year-to-date take up 18.8% to 104,552. Toyota reclaims the brands top spot with a spectacular 21.4% share vs. 12.4% year-to-date and like last month Skoda ranks at #2, this time with 11.3% share vs. 8.6% so far this year. Volkswagen drops to #3 and 10.9% share vs. 12.1% YTD. Mercedes and Peugeot exchange rankings below, with BMW up three spots on last month to #6, Ford remaining at #7 and Opel up four to #9. Notice also Suzuki up five ranks to #14, MG down four to #15 but with 1.8% share vs. 0.4% so far this year, Tesla up 15 spots to #18 and Honda up three to #20.

Model-wise, Toyota monopolises the podium with the Corolla up 17 ranks on October to #1 with 1.5% share, the Yaris Cross up two to #2 and 4.4% and the C-HR up 22 to #3 and at 3.8%. The Skoda Kodiaq is the best of the rest, up six spots to #4 and distancing last month’s leader the Peugeot 2008, the Mercedes E-Class up ten to #6, the Opel Corsa up 25 to #7, the Skoda Octavia up 19 to #8 and the VW Passat up 38 to #9. The VW ID.4 tops recent launches at #13, followed by the Skoda Enyaq (#21), the BMW iX3 (#22), Kia EV6 (#267) and Audi Q4 (#35).
