Czech Republic November 2021: Hyundai (+51.9%), Kia (+35.4%) ignore market off -7.5%

Hyundai i30 sales surge 45.2% year-on-year in November.

The Czech new car market slides down a reasonable -7.5% year-on-year in November to 16,174 units, bringing the year-to-date tally to 190,668, up 4.4% on the same period a year ago. Local behemoth Skoda (-3.6%) resists better than the market at 33.4% share vs. 34.2% so fat this year, but the best performances of the month are to be found just below: Hyundai soars 51.9% to 13% share vs. 9.7% YTD and Kia jumps 35.4% to 5.9% share vs. 4.8%. The two Korean brands have been posting tremendous results all across Europe and seem unaffected by the microchip crisis. Toyota (+1.4%) also edges up to 4th place whereas Volkswagen (-64.7%) completely implodes at #5. Mercedes (+12.9%) and Dacia (+2.3%) are the only additional gainers in the remainder of the Top 10. Further down, Nissan (+87.2%), Lexus (+86.5%), Subaru (+73.1%), Ssangyong (+70.2%), Opel (+45.9%) and Mazda (+34.5%) stand out while Cupra (+11400%) celebrates one year in market at #19.

Over in the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (-9.5%) reclaims the top spot at home for the first time since last May with a strong 7.6% share vs. 6.5% year-to-date. The Hyundai i30 (+45.2%) leaps up two spots to #2, breaking its share record at 7.1%. It remains #4 year-to-date however. The Skoda Fabia (+0.2%) is down two ranks to #3 while the Skoda Karoq (+79.4%) posts a fantastic year-on-year gain at #4 and the Skoda Scala (-8.7%) drops three spots to #5. The Skoda Kamiq (+39%), Kia Ceed (+31.9%) and Hyundai Tucson (+29.8%) also fare very well in the remainder of the Top 10 as opposed to the Skoda Kodiaq (-52.4%) and Superb (-20.1%). The Peugeot 2008 (+102.8%) and Dacia Sandero (+59.8%) also shine below. The Opel Mokka (#16) is the best-selling recent launch above the Hyundai Bayon (#19), Skoda Enyaq (#33) and Citroen C4 (#47).
