Pakistan October 2021: Suzuki Alto cements leadership in market up 49.1%

The Suzuki Alto holds 24.2% of the Pakistani market in October.

According to figures by PAMA, sales of locally-produced light vehicles in Pakistan gain another 49.1% year-on-year in October to 21,002 units, bringing the year-to-date tally up 99% to 191,349. Suzuki (+69.3%) once again outpaces the market but holds a market share below its year-to-date level at 48.8% vs. 51.6%. Reversely, in 2nd place Toyota (+25.8%) posts a rather weak year-on-year evolution but holds 32.8% of the market vs. 29.6% YTD. Honda (+9.4%) struggles at 12.7% share vs. 14.3% while Hyundai (+268.2%) and JAC (+1766.7%) continue to gear up. Note Kia also produces locally now, reportedly selling more than Honda but doesn’t report figures to PAMA so it doesn’t appear here.

Model-wise, the Suzuki Alto (+76%) cements its domination with 24.2% share, while the Toyota Corolla (+154.3%) surges to 2nd place with 15.9% of the market vs. 10.4% so far this year. The Toyota Yaris (-33.4%) is in difficulty in third place but remains #2 year-to-date, it distances the Honda Civic (+42.7%) trailing the market growth slightly, while the Suzuki Ravi (+398.3%) and Cultus (+64.2%) post fantastic gains. The Toyota Fortuner (+264.9%), Hyundai Tucson (+65.9%) and Suzuki Bolan (+57.5%) also shine further down.
