New Caledonia (France) October 2021: Dacia Duster snaps lead in market down -21.9%

The Dacia Duster is the best-selling vehicle in New Caledonia in October.

New car sales in New Caledonia, a French archipelago located north east of Australia, tumble down -21.9% year-on-year in October to just 503 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 2.4% to 6.718. Both Toyota (-31.1%) and Ford (-35.5%) fall faster than the market but the latter is up six spots on September to #2. Dacia (+23.1%) is also up six ranks on last month to rally back to #3 overall, distancing Citroen (-36.2%) in great difficulty. Hyundai (+42.9%) and Nissan (+400%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 just as Renault (-6.1%) and Suzuki (-18.9%) resist and Peugeot (-62.9%) and Kia (-57.9%) fall apart. Chinese fares FAW (+140%), MG (+37.5%) and ZX Auto (#20) also shine further down, as do Land Rover (+60%) and Mercedes (+100%) at the tail end of the Top 20.

Model-wise, the Dacia Duster (+75%) is back in charge for the 6th time this year, yet remains #2 year-to-date below the Toyota Hilux (-64.3%) in dire straits this month at #4. The Ford Ranger (-24.4%) and Nissan Navara (+750%) make it three pickups in the Top 4. The Fiat Ducato (+50%), Hyundai Creta (+1100%) and Suzuki Jimny (+83.3%) also stand out in the remainder of the Top 10. Among recent launches, the Kia Sonet is up to #14, the Renault Kwid down 19 spots to #20 and the ZX Auto Terralord up to #23.
