Denmark October 2021: Hyundai (+40.5%), Kia (+28.6%) defy market down -15.9%

Hyundai sales are up 40.5% in a market down -15.9%.

The Danish new car market drops -15.9% year-on-year in October to 12,668 registrations, keeping in mind October 2020 was already down -17.9% on the year prior. The year-to-date tally now stands at 152,617 units, off -2.9% on the same period in 2020. Volkswagen (-40%) continues to vastly underperform but remains in the brands lead for just 6 sales above Hyundai (+40.5%) going completely against the grain with the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10. Peugeot (-36.6%) struggles year-on-year but is up three spots on September to #3. Kia (+28.6%), Citroen (+18.1%) and Ford (+15.1%) also performs splendidly in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Toyota (-31.1%), Mercedes (-21.8%) and BMW (-19.7%) suffer. Further down, notice Polestar (+13200%), MG (+197.1%), DS (+38.1%), Dacia (+13.7%), Mazda (+6.3%) and Volvo (+6.1%) all in positive.

Over in the models ranking, the Ford Kuga (+2104%) rallies back up 10 spots on September to reclaim the pole position it holds year-to-date, distancing the Citroen C3 (+141%) and Kia Ceed (+31.4%) all in outstanding shape. Reversely, the Peugeot 208 (-51.8%) loses more than half its October 2020 volume but is up 33 ranks on last month to #4. The Hyundai i10 (+4.6%) stays in 5th place ahead of the Opel Corsa (-21.8%) up 9 to #6 and the Peugeot 3008 (+262.5%) up one to #7. The VW ID.4 is once again the best-selling recent launch, down four spots to #8 just above the Audi Q4 up five to #9. Notice also the Audi Q5 (+2011.1%), Hyundai Tucson (+333.3%), Hyundai i20 (+180%) and Audi Q3 (+65.3%) all posting fantastic year-on-year gains.
