Pakistan September 2021: Suzuki (+72.4%) outpaces market up 59%

The Suzuki Alto remains the favourite in Pakistan this month.

According to figures released by PAMA, sales of locally-produced light vehicles in Pakistan surge 59% year-on-year in September to 22.235 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 108.1% to 170.347. Brand leader Suzuki (+72.4%) once again outpaces the market to hit 50.3% share, albeit in decline vs. its year-to-date level of 52%. Toyota (+44.1%) and Honda (+34.1%) can’t quite match the market growth while Hyundai (+205.1%) triples its sales year-on-year to reach 4.3% of the market. Note Kia also produces locally now, reportedly selling more than Honda but doesn’t report figures to PAMA so it doesn’t appear here.

On the models side, the Top 4 is unchanged on August with the Suzuki Alto (+46.3%) still reigning supreme at 20.4% share vs. 21.8% so far this year. The Suzuki Cultus (+288.8%) multiplies its September 2020 value by almost four to stay at #2 ahead of the Toyota Yaris (+3.9%) and Corolla (+91.5%). The Honda Civic (+46.8%) is estimated to climb to #5, dislodging the Suzuki WagonR (+44.5%). The Toyota Fortuner (+396.7%), Isuzu D-Max (+91.2%) and Suzuki Ravi (+65.4%) also outrun the market further down the charts.
