Kazakhstan September 2021: Chevrolet Cobalt and Hyundai Accent top market up 3.7%

The Chevrolet Cobalt remains the most popular vehicle in Kazakhstan in September.

New vehicle sales in Kazakhstan edge up 3.7% year-on-year in September to 10.517 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up a whopping 36.5% to 86.566 sales. Chevrolet (+72.8%) vastly outpaces the market to cement its domination at 22.2% share vs. 25.9% so far this year. In fact the entire Top 4 grows faster than the market, with Hyundai up 9.3% to 18.5% share vs. 20.5% year-to-date, Toyota up 11.7% to 11.5% share vs. 12% and Kia up 110.1% to 8.1% share, identical to its YTD level. In contrast Lada (-61.5%) falls apart in 5th place whereas it ranked #1 a year ago in September 2020. Volkswagen (+42.9%), Renault (+28.7%) and JAC (+25.1%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10.

Over in the models ranking, the Chevrolet Cobalt (+74.8%) confirms it is the new favourite of Kazakh customers with a stellar 14.6% share vs. 12.4% so far this year. The Hyundai Accent (+111.1%) slides up one spot on August to #2 while the Toyota Camry (-25.6%) does the same to #3. The Chevrolet Nexia (+148.8%) is down two to #4 while the Lada Granta (-66.4%) rallies back up 92 ranks on last month to #5 overall. The Kia Sportage (+90.4%) ad Rio (+87.2%) also post significant year-on-year upticks below. The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 (#19) is the best-selling recent launch in Kazakhstan.
