Singapore July 2021: Toyota (+5%) reclaims lead in market off -28.6%

Toyota sales are up 5% in a market down -28.6%.

New car sales in Singapore skid down -28.6% year-on-year in July to just 3.446 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 37.1% to 29.223. Relegated to third place last month, Toyota (+5%) braves the negative context to easily reclaim the top spot with 22.5% share vs. 20.4% so far this year. Toyota sells more than double the #2 BMW (-19.2%) staying at #2 thanks to a somewhat limited fall vs. the market. Honda (-46.1%) is up two spots on June to #3 while last month’s leader Mercedes (-54.3%) implodes to #4. Nissan (+21.5%) and Hyundai (+9.4%) also manage a year-on-year gain in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Kia (-36.6%) and Volkswagen (-61.6%) sink. Further down, Rolls Royce (+180%), Suzuki (+70%), MG (+56%), Opel (+42.3%), Renault (+12.5%) and Citroen (+5%) impress with year-on-year gains.
