Poland August 2021: Kia (+31.8%), Hyundai (+70.3%) help limit market fall to -3.2%

Kia Xceed sales are up 81.3% year-on-year.

New car sales in Poland edge down -3.2% year-on-year in August to 32.660 sales, keeping in mind August 2020 was already down -28.6% on the year prior. The year-to-date volume now stands at 308.418, up 22.4% on the same period in 2020. Toyota (-0.4%) is the runaway leader once again this month at 15.8% share vs. 16.5% so far this year. It distances Kia (+31.8%) up one spot on July to a record 2nd place, toppling Skoda (-34.9%) in dire straits at #3. Hyundai (+70.3%) is also in outstanding shape at #4, displacing Volkswagen (-10.4%) which rounds out the Top 5 in weak fashion. Fiat (+48.1%), Audi (+40.6%) and BMW (+36.6%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 15 whereas Peugeot (-46.3%), Opel (-46%) and Ford (-42.1%) struggle.

Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla (-24.1%) retains the top spot despite a steep year-on-year fall, while the Toyota RAV4 (+51.9%) surges ahead to end the month just 45 sales below. The Fiat Tipo (+89.4%) is up seven spots on July to land on the third step of the podium , distancing the Hyundai i30 (+95.1%) which almost doubles its sales year-on-year. The Dacia Duster (-11.1%) is down three ranks to #5, with the Hyundai Tucson (+112.2%) and Toyota C-HR (+9%) the only additional gainers in the Top 10. The Skoda Octavia (-53.6%) and Toyota Yaris (-37.8%) take particularly big hits. Further down, the Audi Q5 (+350%), Dacia Sandero (+149%), Toyota Aygo (+143.8%) and Kia Xceed (+81.3%) all display surreal upticks while the Lexus NX (#30), Renault Arkana (#47) and Lexus UX (#49) all break into the Top 50.
