Colombia August 2021: Mazda CX-30 reclaims control of market up 59.5%
The Mazda CX-30 is the best-selling vehicle in Colombia in August and year-to-date.
The Colombian new car market continues to evolve at markedly higher levels than last year with August volumes up 59.5% year-on-year to 21.099, leading to a year-to-date tally up 55.2% to 155.398. Note August 2021 remains down -9.5% on the pre-pandemic levels of August 2019 and off -4.3% year-to-date. Renault (+60.6%) dominates the brands charts head and shoulders with 22% share vs. 10.1% for 2nd ranked Mazda (+104.4%) up two spots on July. Kia (+100%) is up three ranks on last month to #3 and 8.8% share vs. #6 and 6.7% so far this year. Nissan (+89.6%) also vastly outpaces the market at #4 but Chevrolet (-29.6%) is hit full frontal by the microchip crisis and falls three spots on July to #5 with just 8.7%. Hyundai (+236.5%), Suzuki (+214.4%), Toyota (+77.9%) and Volkswagen (+63.7%) also post fantastic gains in the remainder of the Top 10. Further down, notice Seat (+561.9%), Subaru (+393.1%), Fiat (+333.3%), Citroen (+210.9%), Audi (+206.5%) and Honda (+202.2%) all extremely impressive.
Model-wise, the Mazda CX-30 (+197.5%) is up 3-fold to reclaim control of both the August charts and the year-to-date order, displacing the Renault Kwid in the latter. The Renault Stepway (+89.9%) is up three spots on July to #2 ahead of the Kia Picanto (+117.8%). Renault monopolises the next four spots with the Sandero (+113.2%), Duster (+46.3%), Logan (+120.7%) and Kwid (+20.3%). The Suzuki Vitara (+183.1%), Nissan Frontier NP300 (+113.8%) and Mazda3 (+84%) all shine in the remainder of the Top 10. Notice also the Chevrolet Captiva (+433.8%) up to #12, the Suzuki Swift (+517.3%) at #15, the Ford Ranger (+224.2%) at #16 and the Toyota Corolla Cross down 8 ranks on last month to #18, still outselling the Corolla (#26).
