Turkey June 2021: Volkswagen (+95.3%), Toyota (+90.3%) pull market up 12.5% to highest since 2017
Volkswagen sales almost double year-on-year in June.

New light vehicle sales in Turkey gain 12.5% year-on-year in June to 79.819 registrations, the largest June volume since 2017 (83.658). It brings the year-to-date tally up 55.3% to 394.701. Brand leaders Fiat (-3.5%) and Renault (-28.8%) go against the grain with year-on-year drops to 17.7% and 11.1% share respectively. Volkswagen (+95.3%) is down one spot on May to #3 but manages the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10, ending the month at 10.9% share which is equivalent to its YTD level. Below Ford (-2.5%) in negative, Toyota (+90.3%) is also on fire but down quite significantly on its YTD share at 6.7% vs. 7.9%. Hyundai (+67.4%), Honda (+35.8%) and Dacia (+21.4%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Skoda (+9.9%) and Peugeot (+9.1%) aren’t that lucky. Further down, Nissan (+349.7%), DS (+253.8%), Isuzu (+120.8%), Seat (+114.1%), Land Rover (+83.9%), Volvo (+75.3%), Jeep (+61.3%), Mercedes (+60.4%) and Kia (+55.1%) are among the most impressive gainers.
Over in the models ranking, the Fiat Egea (-4.9%) remains ultra-dominant at 10.8% share despite a slight year-on-year drop. The Renault Clio (-30.5%) is down significantly year-on-year but up five spots on May to #2, climbing to #3 year-to-date as a result. The Toyota Corolla (+87.7%) almost doubles its volume vs. June 2020 and is up two ranks on last month to #3, distancing the Ford Transit/Tourneo Courier (+26%) also in great shape. The VW Passat (+72.4%), Honda Civic (+33.6%) and Fiat Fiorino (+26%) also outpace the market in the remainder of the Top 10 but the Renault Megane (-36.6%), Fiat Doblo (-8.4%) and Dacia Duster (-2.6%) go backwards. Notice also the Skoda Octavia up 8 spots to #12 and the VW Caddy (+102.2%) and T-Roc (+362.7%) both posting fantastic gains.
