Czech Republic July 2021: Hyundai (+29.1%), Kia (+21.3%) shine in market down -6.9%

The Hyundai Bayon is the best-selling recent launch in the Czech Republic.

New car sales in the Czech Republic drop -6.9% year-on-year in July to 18.405 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 14.3% to 131.210. Local behemoth Skoda (-13.2%) almost doubles the market fall rate but scores a solid 36% share vs. 35.3% so far this year. Hyundai (+29.1%) repeats at a splendid 2nd place, moving past Volkswagen (+12.3%) in the year-to-date order to also take #2. Kia (+21.3%) is also very solid, up one spot on June to #4 ahead of Toyota (-0.7%) and Peugeot (-34.5%) in difficulty. Seat (+127%) scores the largest year-on-year gain in the Top 10 but remains below its YTD level at 3.2% share vs. 3.3%. Below, Jaguar (+233.3%), Alfa Romeo (+166.7%), Land Rover (+73%), Ssangyong (+69.4%), Mazda (+41.7%), Nissan (+23%) and Suzuki (+14.5%) impress.

Over in the models ranking, Skoda places 6 models in the Top 7 with the Fabia (-6.3%) in the overall lead above the Octavia (-29%) and Kamiq (+95%) equalling its market share record at 6.7%. The Hyundai i30 (+27.4%) remains in 4th position ahead of the Skoda Kodiaq (+22.5%), Scala (-21.4%) and Karoq (-26.2%). The Hyundai Tucson (+49%), VW Golf (+134.5%) and Dacia Duster (+34.8%) round out the Top 10 in very dynamic fashion while just below the Kia Ceed (+24.2%) and Seat Arona (+668.9%) also post superb gains. The Hyundai Bayon is up 34 spots on June to #40, becoming the best-selling recent launch in the country (<12 months) ahead of the Renault Arkana (#53), Toyota Highlander (#64), Citroen C4 (#67), Cupra Formentor (#84) and Skoda Enyaq (#93).
