Greece April 2021: Toyota Yaris and Hyundai i20 top market down -17.1% on pre-pandemic

The Hyundai i20 is up to 2nd place in Greece in April.

The Greek new car market soars 319% year-on-year in April to 10.198 registrations, lifting the year-to-date tally up 41.2% to 33.637. Note April 2021 volumes are down -17.1% on two years ago in April 2019 (12.303). Toyota (+176.1%) retains the brands top spot despite significantly trailing the market, which is not the case of Peugeot (+513.6%) and most impressively Hyundai (+636.4%). Opel (+318.2%) almost exactly matches the market in 4th place, while 5 of the 6 remaining Top 10 brands outpace the overall growth, starting with Kia (+1110.8%), Citroen (+612.3%) and Suzuki (+469.2%) and also including Mercedes (+394.5%) and Volkswagen (+341.3%). Further down, Tesla (+2500%), Seat (+588%), Fiat (+556.9%), Ford (+458.5%) and Dacia (+408.1%) stand out.

Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Yaris (+205.2%) holds onto its usual pole position but is weaker than usual at 5.7% share vs. 6.4% so far this year. The Hyundai i20 (+671.9%) leaps up five spots on March to land in 2nd place, dislodging the Peugeot 208 (+756%) down one rank to #3. The Opel Corsa (+267%) is also down one spot on last month to #4, distancing the Citroen C3 (+1143.3%), Peugeot 2008 (+531.5%) and Hyundai i10 (+695.2%). The Kia Stonic (+1415%) is up 13 spots on March to #8 and the Mercedes A-Class (+493.2%) is down one to round out the Top 10 at #10. The Opel Mokka (#71) and Citroen C4 (#73) top recent launches.
