Czech Republic Full Year 2020: Skoda monopolises Top 5 for the first time, Scala up to #3 in market down -18.8%

New car sales in the Czech Republic drop -18.8% year-on-year in 2020 to 202.971 units. Local behemoth Skoda (-12.9%) outpaces its home market and markedly improves its share from 34.4% to 36.8%, its highest in 13 years: since 2007 (37%). Volkswagen (-19.7%) and Hyundai (-17%) roughly follow the market and close out the podium above Toyota (+1.3%) scoring the only gain in the Top 25 and up 3 spots to #4. Mercedes (-4.1%) and Kia (-13.9%) also beat the market in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Dacia (-34.1%), Ford (-30.1%), Renault (-25.8%) and Peugeot (-25.4%) struggle. Further down, Audi (-5.8%), Lexus (-6.2%), Porsche (-7.8%) and BMW (-8.9%) resist while among smaller brands Ssangyong (+284.8%), Tesla (+230%), Ferrari (+56.9%) and DS (+20.8%) are up spectacularly.
The Skoda Enyaq lands directly at #4 in December.
Over in the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (-11.9%) is above the market evolution thanks to its new generation and clocks up a 12th consecutive annual win with an improved 9.4% share. The Skoda Fabia (-21.1%) follows ahead of the Skoda Scala (+26.7%) up 4 spots to #3 for its first full year of sales. The Karoq (-18.8%) and Kamiq (+325.5%) mean Skoda monopolises its home Top 5 for the first time in history. The Hyundai i30 (-0.4%) improves its share markedly from 3% to 3.7% but drops one spot to #6, remaining the most popular foreigner for the 6th year in a row. The Skoda Kodiaq (-19.6%) and Superb (+5.1%) make it 7 Skodas in the Top 8 for the second consecutive year and ever. In December, the Skoda Enyaq EV lands directly at #4 with 3.6% share, making it 8 Skodas in the Top 10.
