Austria October 2020: VW Golf claims first victory since February in market edging down -3.4%

New car sales in Austria edge down -3.4% year-on-year in October to 24.274 units, leading to a year-to-date tally down -27.7% to 204.913. Volkswagen (-12.4%) loses almost 4 times as much ground as the market but easily remains in the brands lead at 14.1% share. Skoda (+46.3%) and Seat (+17.3%) on the other hand post very dynamic gains and distance Ford (+5.8%) also solid and BMW (-27.1%) struggling. Dacia (+50.8%), Audi (+24.3%) and Peugeot (+6.2%) are the only additional gainers in the Top 15.

Model-wise, the VW Golf (+60.3%) snaps its first monthly victory since last February, selling just 7 units more than the YTD leader, the Skoda Octavia (+71.4%). The Skoda Fabia (+71%) and Fiat 500 family (+132.9%) also manage surreal upticks, alongside the Dacia Sandero (+101.9%), Seat Arona (+82.4%), Ford Fiesta (+59.1%), VW Bus (+56.5%), Hyundai Kona (+54.5%), Mazda CX-30 (+51.8%), Seat Ibiza (+48.6%) and Opel Corsa (+40.2%). #16 overall last month, the VW ID.3 steps out of the monthly Top 20 for October, selling just over 200 units.
