Ukraine August 2020: Volkswagen (+23.6%), Suzuki (+55.5%) stand out in market back in negative (-15.6%)

The VW Tiguan is up to a record 4th place in Ukraine in August.

The Ukrainian new car market brutally ends a run of two consecutive months of gains in August at -15.6% year-on-year to 6.970 registrations leading to a year-to-date tally down -3.8% to 52.506. Renault (-6.2%) and Toyota (-2.3%) hold onto the top two spots as per the YTD order but the most impressive carmakers in Ukraine this month are Volkswagen (+23.6%) up to #3 and 8% share vs. #10 and 3.5% YTD and Suzuki (+55.5%) up to #5 and 4.5% share vs. #7 and 3.6% so far in 2020. Mitsubishi (+23.1%) and Peugeot (+12.8%) also impress in the Top 10 while further down Ravon (+304.2%), JAC (+100%), Honda (+81.1%), Ford (+36.9%), Citroen (+15.5%), Subaru (+11.4%) and Chery (+9.8%) stand out.

Model-wise, the Renault Duster (+35.3%) reclaims the top spot it holds YTD, distancing the Toyota RAV4 (+35.4%) and Renault Logan (-14.8%). The VW Tiguan (+409.1%) shoots up 25 spots on July to land at a record 4th position with 4% share vs. #23 and 0.9% so far in 2020. Leader last month, the Renault Sandero (-42.7%) falls back to the 5th spot it holds YTD. The Ford Kuga (+113.3%) is the only additional gainer in the Top 10, with the VW Touareg (+108.1%), Suzuki SX4 (+47.7%) and Toyota Land Cruiser (+26.4%) impressive further down. The Chery Tiggo 8 (#44) tops recent launches above the Mazda CX-30 (#55).
