Slovenia July 2020: Renault Captur (+120.8%), Peugeot 2008 (+67.7%) help tilt market back into positive (+7.9%)

4th monthly win in Slovenia for the Renault Captur, record #4 for the Peugeot 2008.

It’s back to positive for the Slovenian new car market lifting by a sturdy 7.9% year-on-year in July to 6.429 registrations, which brings the year-to-date tally down -26.9% to 34.434. Local manufacturer Renault (+22.5%) vastly outpace the market but sees its share remain well below its YTD level at 15.9% vs. 16.9%. Volkswagen (-9.6%) and Skoda (-1.1%) both underperform but round out the podium like YTD, while Kia (+168.4%), Dacia (+67.3%), Hyundai (+62.2%), Peugeot (+32.9%) and Nissan (+13.3%) all post stellar gains in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, Land Rover (+140%), Tesla (+114.3%), Volvo (+78.8%), Ford (+46%), BMW (+33.7%) and Mitsubishi (+31.3%) stand out.

Models data shows the Renault Captur (+120.8%) surging to first place for the first time for this generation and the 4th time ever after August 2016August 2018 and June 2019. The Renault Clio (-13.5%) is knocked down to #2 and the Hyundai Tucson (+277.6%) is up to #3 just as the Peugeot 2008 (+67.7%) climbs to a record 4th place for the second time in the past 3 months. The Dacia Duster (+534.4%) surges 6-fold on July 2019 but is down 3 spots on last month to #5 while the Skoda Octavia (-5.6%) is back up 7 ranks to #6. The Peugeot 208 (+106.1%) soars 11 spots to #9, with the VW Passat (+230%), VW T-Roc (+44.7%), Renault Megane (+33.3%) and Dacia Sandero (+18.8%) also impressive below. The Kia Xceed (#15) hits its highest ranking in the world and tops recent launches above the Skoda Kamiq (#30) and Mazda CX-30 (#34).
