Pakistan July 2020: Toyota Yaris up to 16.2% share, volumes down just -7.4%

The Toyota Yaris is teasing the Suzuki Alto for the Pakistani pole position.

Sales of locally-produced light vehicle in Pakistan drop just -7.4% year-on-year in July to 11.659 units, and although this is a much better showing than in June (-50.2%), keep in mind July 2019 was particularly weak month, down a ghastly -41% on the year prior. The year-to-date tally now stands at 56.134, off -57.7% on the same period in 2019. Suzuki (-40.4%) remains the most popular brand in the market but sees its share thaw to 42.8% vs. 46.5% so far this year, whereas in complete contrast Toyota (+67.6%) shoots up to 34.7% and Honda (+45.6%) is up to 21.2%. Model-wise, the Suzuki Alto (-52.9%) signs a third consecutive win and 9th pole position since its launch in June 2019 with 18.5% share, but it is now feeling the heat from the new Toyota Yaris, up from 13.3% share in June to 16.2% this month. The Toyota Corolla (-22.9%) returns to the podium while the Honda Civic/City (+52.2%) are on fire, as are the Suzuki Bolan (+56.3%) and Toyota Hilux (+35.8%).
