Slovenia June 2020: Renault Clio and Dacia Duster top stabilised market (-5.8%)

Dacia Duster sales are up 8-fold year-on-year in Slovenia in June.

With a much reduced -5.8% year-on-year drop to 6.565 registrations in June, Slovenia enters a small circle of European markets having already stabilised post-Covid, alongside France (+1.2%), Belgium (-1.8%) and the Czech Republic (-5.2%). The year-to-date tally now stands at 28.005 units, down -31.9% over the same period in 2019. As is traditionally the case as it backloads end-of-quarters, Renault (-7.4%) shoots up to 22.1% share and reclaims the #1 YTD spot off Volkswagen (-34.6%) which can only muster a paltry 11.4% share for the month. These two marques are followed by an impressive string of spectacular gainers: Kia (+158.2%), Hyundai (+47.1%), Skoda (+21%), Peugeot (+19.2%), Citroen (+13.7%) and Dacia (+12.3%) all behave as if the coronavirus never happened and slide into the Top 8.

The Renault Clio (+84.7%) and Dacia Duster (+702.3%) both post extravagant year-on-year lifts to top the June models charts, leaving the Nissan Qashqai (+0.9%), Renault Captur (-63.6%) and VW Golf (-11.4%) reeling. The Peugeot 2008 (+83.7%) is also impressive at #6, with the Kia Stonic (+237.8%) and Hyundai Tucson (+129.1%) also posting spectacular upticks in the remainder of the Top 10. The Skoda Kamiq (#10) is the most popular recent launch, breaking into the Slovenian Top 10 for the second time after last February (#7), and is followed by the Kia Xceed (#22) and Mazda CX-30 (#53).

Previous month: Slovenia May 2020: Kia (+96.8%), Nissan (+9.5%) ignore market down -31.7%

One year ago: Slovenia June 2019: Renault (+37.5%), Dacia (+50.8%) can’t prevent market down -5.6%
