Czech Republic June 2020: Skoda (+16.1%) places record 6 models in Top 6 in stabilised market (-5.2%)

First podium finish for the Skoda Kamiq at home.

New car sales in the Czech Republic spectacularly reduce their loss to just -5.2% year-on-year in June at 20.771 units, leading to a First Half volume down -26% to 95.029. Homegrown behemoth Skoda (+16.1%) is doing the heavy lifting with a spending double-digit gain sending it above 40% share for the first time since last January at 40.7%. In contrast Hyundai (-20.8%), Volkswagen (-15.1%) and Dacia (-21%) all lose share just below. Mercedes (+21%) and Renault (+10.2%) are the only two additional Top 10 brands in positive just as Kia (-5.5%) and Toyota (-7.5%) hold but Ford (-38.9%) and Peugeot (-26.9%) struggle. Below, Ssangyong (+350%), Tesla (+320%), Bentley (+166.7%), Land Rover (+69%), Ferrari (+33.3%), Lexus (+31.3%), Mitsubishi (+26.6%), Volvo (+23.6%) and Porsche (+19.1%) shine with stunning gains.

In the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia (+23.9%) and Fabia (+13.8%) both score fantastic gains and return their respective YTD ranking while the Skoda Kamiq leaps up two spots on May to climb onto the podium for the very first time at #3, also breaking its volume (1.092) and share (5.3%) records. The Skoda Scala (+64.9%) is knocked down to #4 while the Karoq (+2.5%) advances to #5 and the Kodiaq (-16.9%) to #6, ensuring the June Czech Top 6 is 100% Skoda which is an all-time record also hit in May 2017, January 2019 and September 2019. The Dacia Duster (-21.8%) is the best-selling non-Skoda nameplate at #7 while the Skoda Superb (+72%) and Renault Clio (+59.7%) also score strong gains in the Top 10.
