Moldova May 2020: Toyota RAV4 cements leadership, Hyundai Santa Fe in Top 10, market fall thins to -27.7%

The Hyundai Santa Fe lodges its first Top 10 finish of 2020.

Based on data shared with us by our Central European market data partner CE Auto, new car sales in Moldova rally back to -27.7% year-on-year in May to 399 registrations after stalling -72.9% in April. The year-to-date tally is now down -33.5% to 1.669. The Toyota RAV4 (+39.3%) secures an impressive year-on-year surge to cement its newfound YTD leadership, teasing the 10% share milestone well ahead of the Dacia Logan (-55.1%) at 5.5% of the market and on the way to lose the annual top spot for the first time in at least a decade. The Skoda Fabia leaps up 6 spots on April to #3 and climbs to #8 YTD whereas it didn’t rank within the 2019 Top 10. The Dacia Duster (-32%) is in difficulty at #4, the Skoda Octavia (-16.7%), Skoda Kodiaq (-23.5%) and Kia Sportage (-26.1%) manage to keep their fall below the market rate while the Hyundai Santa Fe returns inside the Top 10 for the first time since last July.
