Uruguay April 2020: Suzuki up to 27.6% share in market down -58.3%

Thanks to new launches such as the S-Presso, Suzuki is down just -14.6%.

COVID-19 movement restrictions triggered a -58.3% year-on-year drop for new car sales in Uruguay in April to 1.233 units, pulling the year-to-date tally down -23.2% to 9.369. Suzuki (-14.6%) resists a lot better than the market and reclaims the brands top spot with a mammoth 27.6% share, almost double the one it commands YTD at 14.4%. Fiat (-55.6%) is up 4 spots on March to #2, distancing Volkswagen (-71.4%), Chevrolet (-65.7%) and Hyundai (-26.7%) up 5 ranks to #5. Toyota (-38.6%) is also solid in the remained of the Top 10 just as Citroen (-56%) and Nissan (-59.2%) remain close to the market rate but Renault (-87.6%) implodes. Seat shoots up 6 spots to #11. The Suzuki Swift and Alto top the models ranking ahead of the Fiat Argo, Chevrolet Onix and Nissan Versa, while the new Suzuki S-Presso is down just two spots to #6, scoring a second consecutive Top 6 finish after 3 months in market.
