UK nations April 2020: Tesla Model 3, Ford Tourneo Custom, Peugeot Rifter shine in atypical month
The Ford Tourneo Custom manages to rank inside the Top 10 of every UK nation in April.
Thanks to our partnership with SMMT we can share with you the Top 10 best-sellers for all UK nations for April. Keep in mind this is a zoom in by nation, all sales figures are included in our April 2020 UK update. With fleet sales accounting for 71% of the UK market this month vs. 57% a year ago and the large majority of fleet companies being located in London, logically England sales resist “better” in April at -97.2% year-on-year to 3.901 units, whereas Scotland implodes -98.3% to 210, Wales is off -98.7% to just 70 sales and Northern Ireland vanishes -99.4% to 24 units. Year-to-date, Wales fares best at -36.5% to 18.357, followed by England at -43.2% to 422.762, Northern Ireland at -43.4% to 11.741 and Scotland at -49.4% to 33.689.
In England, the Tesla Model 3, Jaguar i-Pace, Vauxhall Corsa and Crossland X top the charts as they do in the UK overall. The Model 3 is also estimated to rank #1 in Northern Ireland, #2 in Scotland and #3 in Wales. The Ford Tourneo Custom manages to crack the Top 10 of all four UK nations for the first time in each: #1 in Scotland, #4 in Wales, #5 in Northern Ireland and #9 in England. The Peugeot 308 ranks #1 in Wales while the Peugeot Rifter breaks into the Top 10 of three UK nations, having never done so in any beforehand as it ranks #2 in Wales, #3 in Scotland and #5 in Northern Ireland.
Even though these rankings aren’t significant, there are a few nuggets popping up in the surreal Top 10 rankings of Northern Ireland (only 19 models selling at least one unit) and Wales (26): in the former, the Audi A6, Dacia Duster, Lexus CT and Vauxhall Combo Life make their appearance while in the latter the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, Jeep Renegade, Lamborghini Urus, Ssangyong Rexton and Volvo XC40 point their bonnet.
