Estonia March 2020: Peugeot (+5.1%), Hyundai (+19.6%) survive market down -25.9%

Peugeot sales are up 5.1% in a market down -25.9%.

Since March 13, Estonia is under a COVID-19 state of emergency which is scheduled to last until May 1, and the country closed its borders on March 17. All public gatherings are banned, including sports and cultural events and schools and universities are closed. We couldn’t find any mention of dealership showrooms having to shut down, so if you live in Estonia and have more information please share. New car sales in Estonia drop -25.9% year-on-year in March to 1.731 units, pulling the year-to-date tally down -11.2% to 5.778.

Toyota (-5.3%) resists much better than the market to remain at a very high 19.7% share, in line with the 19.8% it commands year-to-date. Just below, Skoda (-23.7%), Renault (-38.5%) and Peugeot (+5.1%) hold onto their February ranking, with Peugeot snapping the only year-on-year gain in the Top 8. Seat (+85.7%), Suzuki (+33.3%), Mercedes (+27%) and Hyundai (+19.6%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 20. Model-wise, the Toyota RAV4 (-19.4%) and Corolla (+22.8%) dominate with both 7.2% share ahead of the Renault Clio (+147.5%), Skoda Octavia (-27.7%) and Honda CR-V (+82.1%). The Peugeot 3008 (+57.1%) and Kia Sportage (+40.5%) also impress in the Top 10.
