Yemen Full Year 2019: Toyota Land Cruiser climbs to 52.4% share in market up 59.2%

The Yemeni new car market continues to recover, signing a third straight year of gains in 2019 at 8.589 units, up 59.2% on 2018. Toyota (+62.6%) remains the only true presence in the country, securing a mammoth 93.9% market share vs. 91.9% a year ago and distancing Land Rover (+5.5%) at 2.9%, Nissan (-10.2%) at 1.3% and Hyundai retrying in Yemen at 0.9% share. Lexus (+45.8%) fails to march the market growth and rounds out the Top 5. Model-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser (+101.3%) doubles its sales year-on-year to improve to 52.4% share, while the Toyota Hilux (+65.5%) overtakes the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup (-21.6%) to snap the #2 spot with 19.9% share. The Toyota Prado (+79.4%), Range Rover (+37.4%) and Toyota Fortuner (+11.7%) round out the Top 6 like in 2018, while the Toyota Rush (+950%) and Coaster (+242.9%) break into the Top 10.
