Senegal Full Year 2019: Toyota, Mitsubishi L200 hold onto leads in market down -9%

The Mitsubishi L200 is the best-selling vehicle in Senegal in 2019.

The new vehicle market in Senegal endures a second consecutive year of decline in 2019 at -9% to 6.042 sales, however remaining above the 6.000 annual mark for the 6th year in a row. Toyota (+7.6%) cements its domination of the Senegalese brands ranking at 27% share, widening the gap with #2 Mitsubishi (-2.3%) from under 500 units in 2018 to over 600 this year. Citroen (+0.8%) is the only other Top 9 carmaker in positive, leapfrogging past Renault (-13.1%) and Nissan (-3.7%) to land on the third step of the podium. Suzuki (-20.2%), Kia (-17.1%) and Tata (-14.2%) are in dire straits just as Ford (+25.2%) excels with the largest gain in the Top 12 and breaks into the Top 10 at #10. Below, Foton (+71.4%), Isuzu (+61.1%), Hino (+44.4%) and Land Rover (+18.2%) shine.

Over in the models ranking, the Mitsubishi L200 (-4.1%) holds onto the top spot but only sells 46 units more than the Toyota Hilux (+10.5%) in outstanding shape. The rest of the Top 7 is unchanged on 2018, with the Toyota Prado (-17.2%) rounding out the podium ahead of the Kia Sportage (-16.2%) and Nissan Hardbody (-14.3%). The Citroen C-Elysee (-8.5%) remains the best-selling passenger car in Senegal, and one of only 3 in the Top 35 alongside the Renault Symbol (#19) and Citroen C3 (#30). The Hyundai Tucson (-5.3%) limits its fall to break into the Top 10 at #8 while the Toyota Rush ends its first full year of sales just 3 units off a Top 10 finish at #11. The Citroen C4 Cactus is the best-selling 2019 launch and the only one making it into the Top 50, landing directly at #12.
