Ukraine Full Year 2019: Renault signs first ever annual win, Kia Sportage reclaims top spot in market up 8%

The Sandero (+105.3%), Logan (+88.2%) and Duster (+50.1%) lift Renault to its first annual crown in Ukraine.

New car sales in Ukraine resume their progression in 2019 at +8% to 88.437 units after gains in 2016 (+41%) and 2017 (+25.3%) but slipping into negative in 2018 (-0.4%). The market remains far from its pre-Crimean crisis levels of 213.000 sales in 2013 and 623.000 in 2008. In the brands ranking, Renault (+67.4%) delivers a very impressive performance with the largest gain in the entire Top 20 to secure its first ever annual win in Ukraine with a mammoth 16.5% of the market. The French carmaker ended the year with roughly 20% share over the 4th Quarter and topples Toyota (+24.7%) also very dynamic at 14.2% share vs. 12.3% in 2018. Kia (+55.4%) completes an extremely strong brands podium, up 4 spots to #3. Skoda (+15.3%) at #4 is the only additional Top 10 carmaker to beat the market, while below Haval (+675%), Rolls Royce (+366.7%), Seat (+122.5%), Opel (+78.9%), Alfa Romeo (+75%), Jaguar (+62.5%), Volvo (+43.8%), Land Rover (+39.6%), Chery (+38.5%), Fiat (+37.1%), Lada (+27.4%), JAC (+17.8%) and Citroen (+17.3%) all shine with double-digit gains.

Model-wise, the Kia Sportage (+92.7%) almost doubles its sales year-on-year and defies Renault’s domination to reclaim the annual pole position off the Renault Duster (+50.1%) for the third time in the past four years. The Renault Logan (+88.2%) steps up two spots onto the podium, dislodging the Toyota RAV4 (+593%) while the Renault Sandero (+105.3%) posts the largest gain in the Top 25 to leap 7 spots to #5. With the Toyota Prado (+98%) and Skoda Octavia (+33.4%), the entire Top 7 best-selling models in Ukraine in 2019 have sold at least one-third more units than in 2018. Other great performers include the Seat Ateca (+675.9%), Audi Q8 (+329.1%), Kia Cee’d (+132.7%), Renault Kadjar (+101.2%), Mitsubishi Outlander (+91.5%), Fiat Tipo (+85.4%), Volvo XC90 (+81.5%) VW Touareg (+78.7%), Skoda Kodiaq (+74%), Chery Tiggo 2 (+45.7%), Toyota Land Cruiser (+45.7%) and VW Tiguan (+37.1%). The VW T-Roc (#59) is the most popular 2019 launch above the BMW X7 (#75) and Citroen C5 Aircross (#91).
