Turkey November 2019: Fiat Egea reigns, Peugeot 3008 on podium in disappointingly stable market

The Peugeot 3008 signs its first ever podium finish in Turkey.

The October 2019 article has now been updated with correct models data.

After posting two months of very encouraging gains (+82.3% in September and +127.5% in October), the Turkish new car market cuts short any hope of further improvement in November with sales disappointingly stable at -0.05% to 58.176 and therefore down -42% on November 2017. The year-to-date volume is now down -28.5% to 388.460. Market leader Fiat (+58.5%) ignores the uncertain environment to spectacularly shoot up to 16.3% share vs. 14.9 so far this year, distancing Renault (+6.7%) and Ford (+12.6%) also in solid shape. Volkswagen (-10.4%) on the other hand, drops 3 spots on last month when it led the market. Opel (+77.6%), Peugeot (+65%), Hyundai (+27.7%) and Skoda (+12.3%) also post spectacular gains in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Toyota (-55.7%) and Honda (-18.3%) implode. Further down, notice Lexus (+533.3%), DS (+400%), Mazda (+161.9%), Land Rover (+138%), Porsche (+106.7%), Citroen (+97%), Ssangyong (+48.5%), Seat (+27.1%) and Mercedes (+22.9%) all very dynamic.

In the models ranking, the Fiat Egea (+99.2%) almost doubles its sales year-on-year to post yet another extravagant month at 11.7% share and just under 7.000 sales, that’s 2.7 times the amount of the #2, the Renault Megane (+44.8%) also in outstanding shape and up 14 spots on last month, as are the Peugeot 3008 (+172.1%) at #3 for its first ever Turkish podium and Ford Transit/Tourneo Courier (+108%) at #4. The Renault Symbol (+174.9%) also stuns, leaping up to #7 and earning a Top 25 YTD spot in the process. The Skoda Karoq (+139.4%), Citroen C-Elysee (+121.7%), Ford Kuga (+120.2%), Hyundai Tucson (+92.4%), Peugeot 301 (+59.6%), Hyundai i20 Troy (+50.5%), Skoda Superb (+46.8%) and Opel Astra (+39.4%) also impress while the Citroen C5 Aircross breaks into the Turkish Top 25 for the first time at #24.
