Slovenia Full Year 2019: Renault Clio wins for 22nd year in a row, Dacia (+39.5%) and Sandero (+80.1%) superstars

The Slovenian new car market puts an end to 6 consecutive years of gains in 2019 at -2.1% on a revised 2018 volume to 73.193, still the 2nd largest volume in history below last year. Volkswagen (-1.8%) and Renault (-5.6%) remain the only carmakers above 10% share, with Skoda (+6.6%) just missing out at 9.9%. Dacia (+39.5%) is the standalone winner of the year, shooting up 5 spots on 2018 to land in 6th place overall below Opel (-11.8%) and Peugeot (+3.6%). Nissan (+14.5%), Toyota (+10.2%) and Volvo (+20.1%) also pull double-digit gains in the remainder of the Top 20. Tesla (+290.9%), Land Rover (+129.2%) and Alfa Romeo (+33.3%) are among the most dynamic further down.

Model-wise, the locally-made Renault Clio (-11.5%) celebrates 22 consecutive years in the Slovenian pole position despite a steep fall, selling over 900 units more than the #2, the Skoda Octavia (+0.4%) up two spots on 2018. The VW Golf (-25.6%) drops one rank to #3 while the Renault Captur (-5.3%) edges up one spot to #4. The Dacia Sandero (+80.1%) is the hero of the year, up 6 ranks to #5 and scoring its first ever monthly wins in August and December. In fact, the Clio only won 5 times in 2019, the last one in July, with the Golf on top in October and November, the Octavia #1 in March, the Captur best-seller in June and the VW T-Cross securing its first ever monthly win in the world in September, ending 2019 as the year’s most most popular launch at #12.
