New car sales in Singapore endure a second consecutive year of double-digit decline at -10.8% to 72.254 registrations. Honda (+1.8%) cements its lead in the brands ranking, going against the grain with a small uptick and improving its share from 18.6% to 21.2%. Honda has now been the #1 brand in Singapore during 3 of the past 4 years. Toyota (-6.5%) still manages to also improve its share to 17.9% while Mercedes (+10.1%) is the hero of the year, securing the only double-digit gain in the Top 13 and padding its third place with an impressive 10.9% share. Below Hyundai (-14.1%) in difficulty, BMW (-1.1%) and most strikingly Kia (+7.7%) both post solid scores. The remainder of the Top 10 is in dire straits, with only Mitsubishi (-8%) outpacing the market but Mazda (-42.8%), Nissan (-40.2%) and Audi (-15.4%) dive. Further down, Perodua (+363.2%), Tesla (+250%), Suzuki (+163.8%), Opel (+109%), Skoda (+87.8%), Lamborghini (+60.5%), Jeep (+56.8%), Seat (+52.3%), Bluecar (+47.2%), Bentley (+32.7%), Rolls Royce (+32.3%) and Alfa Romeo (+20%) all post fantastic scores while Alpine lands at #40. Model-wise, we expect the refreshed Honda Vezel/HR-V to remain the most popular, mainly thanks to grey imports, although it could have received some heat by the new Toyota Corolla Altis.
