New light vehicle sales in Morocco skid down -4.9% year-on-year in 2019 to a still very satisfying 168.593 units. Dacia (-7.3%) falls slightly faster than the market and sees its share thaw to 27.3% while Renault (-5.9%) edges down to 14.4%. Peugeot (-6.2%) completes a podium entirely in negative whereas Hyundai (+0.2%) overtakes Volkswagen (-17%) in freefall to snap the 4th spot overall. Citroen (+9.2%) lodges the largest gain in the Top 10, leapfrogging past Fiat (-25.5%) and Ford (-31.4%). Below, Kia (+298.8%), Suzuki (+133.3%) and Opel (+104.7%) are by far the best performers in market, with Lexus (+47.8%), Mahindra (+41.7%) and Skoda (+15.2%) also impressive.

Over in the models ranking, the Dacia Dokker (-7.7%) repeats at #1 but feels the heat from the Renault Clio IV (-0.7%) which ends the year up one spot to #2 and less than 500 sales below the Dokker. #1 in 2017 and #2 in 2018, the Dacia Logan (-11.6%) once again drops one spot to #3 in 2019. Like last year, Dacia places four nameplates in the Top 5 with the Sandero (-6.1%) and Duster (+1.4%) in tow, and also like in 2018 the Renault Group monopolises the Top 6 with the Kangoo (-14.2%) at #6. The Peugeot 208 (+11.2%) remains the most popular non-Renault Group nameplate and could see its position strengthen in 2020 as the 2018 II has now entered local production and ranks #101 in Morocco in 2019. The hero of the Top 10 is the Citroen C3 (+82.9%) shooting up 10 spots on last year to #8. The Hyundai Tucson (-1.7%) and Nissan Qashqai (-30.5%) maintain themselves in the Top 10.
