Greece Full Year 2019: Toyota Yaris and Opel Corsa top market up 10.3% to highest in 9 years

New car sales in Greece post a fantastic 7th straight year in positive at +10.3% to 114.109 units, the largest annual volume since 2010 (141.404), but we remain very far from the all time high of 279,554 sales registered in pre-GFC 2007. Toyota (+7%), although trailing the market, remains by far the most popular brand in the country, whereas Peugeot (+17.4%) leaps up past Volkswagen (+4.9%) to take 2nd place overall. Hyundai (+38.4%) delivers the largest gain in the Top 10, jumping from #8 to #4, with Citroen (+29.3%) also in outstanding shape. Mercedes (+19.5%) also outpaces the market inside the Top 10, while further down Land Rover (+74.3%), Mitsubishi (+72.9%), Lexus (+51.7%), Audi (+51%), Porsche (+50%), Dacia (+38.9%), Subaru (+25%), Abarth (+20%), BMW (+18.5%) and Seat (+17.8%) also shine and Mazda returns at #25.

Over in the models ranking, the Toyota Yaris (+6.9%) celebrates 7 consecutive years in the lead even though its share thaws slightly to 6.1%. It has an over 3.000-sale advantage over the new #2, the Opel Corsa (+10.4%) up 3 spots on 2018, itself knocking down the VW Polo (+0.2%) and Fiat Panda (-0.8%) one spot each to #3 and #4 respectively. The Citroen C3 (+29.9%) manages to the largest gain in the Top 10 and breaks into the Top 5. The Hyundai i10 (+25.4%) and Nissan Qashqai (+19.4%) also score splendid gains in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, the Hyundai Kona (+368.3%), Toyota Corolla (+172%), Dacia Duster (+78.8%), Peugeot 3008 (+71.1%) and VW T-Roc (+52.1%) impress while the VW T-Cross is the best-selling 2019 launch at #46.
