Georgia Full Year 2019: Renault Duster storms into pole position in market up a whopping 46.1%

The Duster is the best-selling nameplate in Georgia, sold both under the Renault and Dacia brands.

New light vehicle sales in the Central Asian country of Georgia shoot up 46.1% year-on-year in 2019 to reach 5.954 registrations. Toyota (+13.6%) remains ultra-dominant in the brands charts but sees its share drop drastically from 38.8% in 2018 to 30.1% this year. Renault (+424.1%) is up 5-fold from #9 to #2, and that’s not even including 281 grey sales under the Dacia brand (#5). Ford (+101.2%) more than doubles its deliveries to step onto the podium at #3, knocking Hyundai (+48.4%) down to #4. Lexus (195.3%) and Land Rover (+85.4%) also frankly outpace the market in the Top 10 while Fiat (+46.8%) matches its growth. Further down, Tesla (+1450%), Volvo (+1333.3%), Subaru (+375%), Honda (+146.2%), Citroen (+135.5%), BMW (+118.2%) and Jeep (+82.6%) stand out.

Model-wise, the Renault Duster (+1434.3%) is up a whopping 15-fold on its 2018 volume to brilliantly take the annual lead, helped by deliveries to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and with 52% of its 2019 volume actually Dacia-branded grey imports from possibly Turkey. The Toyota RAV4 (+91.1%) was #1 year-to-date up until end-November but ends the year up one spot to #2, while the Toyota Corolla (+142.3%), leader halfway through the year, is up 3 to #3. The Ford Ranger (+974.1%) is up 10-fold and 36 spots to #4 while the Toyota C-HR (+49.7%) is up two to round out the Top 5. Leader in 2018, the Toyota Prado (-39.9%) sinks to #6 whereas its 2018 follower the Toyota Hilux (-43.1%) is down to #13. The Lexus NX (+700%), Renault Sandero (+565.4%), Logan (+291.8%), Fiat Ducato (+288.5%), Lexus LX (+240%) and Hyundai Ioniq (+129.2%) also post spectacular gains further down. The Renault Zoe (#25) and Tesla Model 3 (#48) are the only 2019 launches making it into the Top 50.
