Pakistan November 2019: Suzuki Alto leads again, slips to 30.2% share in market imploding -43.8%

The Suzuki Alto holds 30.2% of the Pakistani market in November.

Sales of locally-produced light vehicles in Pakistan continue to implode in November at -43.8% year-on-year to 9.840, bringing the year-to-date tally down -25.4% to 175.611, the lowest at this stage of the year since 2014. This is a fair representation of what the best-seller landscape given high taxes make new car imports negligible. Suzuki (-31.3%) resists much better the the market again, leading to a 59.4% share vs. 58.5% so far this year. In contrast, Honda (-58.3%), Toyota (-51.8%) and JAC (-44.6%) all lose share vs. November 2018. Model-wise, the new Suzuki Alto signs a 5th consecutive monthly win, and although it sees its market share deflate from 41.7% in September, 37% in October to 30.2% this month, it still has an 8-percentage   point of share advantage over the #2, the Toyota Corolla (-56.2%). The Suzuki Cultus (-40.8%) holds onto the #3 spot, the Toyota Hilux (+25.5%) is the only models to gain ground year-on-year in the entire market, with the Honda BR-V (-23.7%) and Suzuki Swift (-42%) also outpacing the market.
