Norway November 2019: Mazda (+58.9%) places CX-30 at world-best #14 in market down -18.5%

The Mazda CX-30 hits its world record ranking in Norway in November.

The Norwegian new car market dives -18.5% year-on-year in November to just 10.031 registrations, leading to a year-to-date volume down -3.2% to  131.127. Even though it skids even faster than the market, Volkswagen (-24.5%) edges past Tesla (+19.3%) in the YTD oder by less than 300 sales. Given the tendency of Elon Musk to full up on deliveries in end-of-quarters, we are betting Tesla will return to the top in a month, just in time for the annual rankings. Audi (+316.6%) is the hero in the Top 10 thanks to one nameplate as we’ll see further down, with Toyota (+11.6%) the only additional double-digit gainer in the Top 10, whereas Nissan (-50%) and Mitsubishi (-42%) implode. Further down, Porsche (+262.5%), Mazda (+58.9%), Lexus (+29.4%), Mercedes (+27.9%) and Land Rover (+9.1%) are among the rare brands in positive.

In the models ranking, the VW Golf (-19.4%) returns to #1 for the first time since last August, with the Nissan Leaf (-55.7%) leaping back up two spots on last month to #2, both nameplates dislodging the Audi e-Trong from the world-first pole position it held in October. Meanwhile the YTD leader, the Tesla Model 3, is up 17 ranks to #4, getting ready for what should be an inflated December volume. In the line of fire: the all-time annual volume record by the VW Beetle back in 1969 at 16.699 – with the Model 3 adding up to 14.432 after 11 months… The Volvo V60 (+531%) and Toyota RAV4 (+43.7%) are the only Top 10 models in positive, with the BMW X5 (+383%) and 3 Series (+653.3%) also positing extraordinary gains just below, and the Mazda CX-30 up 46 spots on October to a world-best #14.
