Colombia October 2019: Renault Kwid repeats at #1 in euphoric market (+10.9%)

Renault Colombia is portraying the Kwid as the successor to the Renault 4.

The Colombian new vehicle market continues to gallop ahead with a splendid 10.9% year-on-year in October to 23.890 units, marking a 6th consecutive gain. The year-to-date volume is now up 5.9% to 208.982. The main event of 2019 in the brands ranking continues to unfold: Renault (+16.6%) has finally managed to outlast archenemy Chevrolet (+6.8%) and once again the former outpaces the market while the latter trails it. Year-to-date, Renault is up 18.7% whereas Chevrolet is down -7.4%. Strikingly, no other Top 5 carmaker manages to beat the market, with Mazda (-5%), Nissan (+0.4%) and Kia (+2.3%) all underperforming. It all changes further down: Volkswagen (+30.1%), Mercedes (+24.6%) and Toyota (+23.5%) all manage fantastic gains in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, JMC (+200%), Citroen (+163.6%), Peugeot (+98.9%), Dongfeng (+91.4%), Hyundai (+70.6%), Changan (+65.5%) and Honda (+38.9%) are among the best performers.

In the models ranking, the Renault Kwid easily repeats at #1, scoring its second ever win in Colombia and the only nameplate to sell over 1.000 units  for the month. It however remains #9 year-to-date for now. Whereas Renault monopolised the August Top 6 and the September Top 5, Chevrolet manages to place the Onix (+103.4%) and Beat (+51.5%) on the October podium, knocking off the Renault Logan (-9.6%), Sandero (-28.9%), Sandero Stepway (-7.9%) and Duster (-10.8%), all falling. The new generation lifts the Mazda3 (+25%) back up 18 spots to #9 vs. #13 YTD. The Renault Duster Oroch (+102.4%), Suzuki Vitara (+97.2%), Swift (+82.5%) and Toyota Hilux (+57.9%) post the largest gains in the remainder of the Top 30.
