Ukraine August 2019: Kia Sportage up to record 8.6% share, 3 Renaults in Top 4 in market up 12.5%
Kia Sportage sales in Ukraine are up 110.6% year-on-year.
New car sales in Ukraine surge 12.5% year-on-year in August to 8.256 units, the largest volume in the country since December 2017 (9.179), cementing the YTD progression to +2% at 54.566 registrations. Renault (+44.2%) continues to vastly outperform the market and comfortably leads the brands ranking for the month with 17.2% share vs. 15.1% so far in 2019, distancing Toyota (+19.5%) at 14.2% vs. 14.1%. In fact, the entire Top 4 outpaces the market with Kia (+71.3%) and Skoda (+48.8%) posting even larger gains. Audi (+102.8%) and Volkswagen (+44.7%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 but Suzuki (-27.8%), Mazda (-26.3%), Hyundai (-15.7%) and Nissan (-5.2%) disappoint. Further down, large gains are much more scarce and include Land Rover (+84.1%), Volvo (+68.4%) and Seat (+58%) while newcomer Haval is up 3 spots on July to #23 and 0.8% share, by far its best scores since launching in Ukraine earlier in the year.
In the models ranking, the Kia Sportage (+110.4%) confirms it is the new favourite in Ukraine by more than doubling its sales year-on-year to reach a new record 8.6% share, a full two percentage points above its YTD level. Renault completes the Top 4 with the Duster (+32.6%), Logan (+80.9%) and Sandero (+55.8%) all in outstanding shape, while the Toyota RAV4 (+64.6%), Land Cruiser Prado (+119.3%), Hyundai Tucson (+14%), Nissan Qashqai (-13.9%) and Mazda CX-5 (-21.2%) make it 7 SUVs in the Top 10. There are 13 in the Top 20 also, thanks to excellent performances by the Seat Ateca (+1940%), Skoda Kodiaq (+115.1%) and Nissan X-Trail (+40.6%).
