New Caledonia (France) August-September 2019: Toyota (+25.2%) holds 23.8% share, places Hilux #1, C-HR #4 and Rush #15

The Toyota Rush breaks into the New Caledonian Top 15 whereas it is not sold in metropolitan France.

After dropping -9.6% year-on-year in August at 696 registrations, new car sales in New Caledonia, a French Overseas archipelago located north-east of Australia, fall another tough -12.2% in September to 625 units, bringing the year-to-date tally down -12.9% to 5.531. Toyota (+25.2%) blissfully ignores the crisis to climb to a monumental 23.8% share, 2.5 times the volume of the #2 Ford (-18.9%), with Dacia (-3.6%) rounding out the podium. Kia (+158.3%), Subaru (+38.1%) and Peugeot (+11.1%) also post fantastic scores in the remainder of the Top 10 where Renault (-41.7%), Citroen (-36.5%) and Hyundai (-32.2%) fall apart. Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (-15.5%) steps up two spots on August to #1 ahead of the Ford Ranger (-13%) and Dacia Duster (-28.2%) which remains #1 YTD. The Toyota C-HR leaps back up 14 spots on last month to #45 with the Peugeot 3008 (+150%) cracking the Top 5. The Hyundai Tucson (+1700%), Toyota RAV4 (+142.9%) and Dacia Sandero (+90%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10, while the Toyota Rush breaks into the Top 20 at #15.
