Denmark September 2019: Citroen places C1 and C3 on podium, Tesla Model 3 up to record #4 in market up 32.6%

The Tesla Model 3 is up to a record 4th place in Denmark in September.

New car sales in Denmark mechanically shoot back up 32.6% year-on-year in September to 15.992 units on weak post-WLTP year-ago volumes, lifting the year-to-date tally to a new record 173.627 units, up 2.1% on the same period in 2018. Volkswagen (+24.9%) holds strong onto the #1 brands spot at 13.4% share vs. 9.1% for Citroen (+78.1%) up two spots on August to #2. Peugeot (+44.1%), Toyota (-9.4%) and Skoda (-0.9%) complete the Top 5 while Renault (+184.6%) spectacularly recuperates from paltry year-ago scores yet can’t quite match its YTD level at 3.8% share vs. 5.2%. Tesla (+3800%), Dacia (+454.5%), Mitsubishi (+447.4%), Seat (+333.7%) and Audi (+229.2%) also impress further down.

Model-wise, the Citroen C1 (+161.8%) surges 28 spots on August to lead the charts ahead of the Peugeot 208 (+54.2%) and Citroen C3 (+46.8%). The Tesla Model 3 is up 67 ranks to 4th place with 437 sales and 2.7% share, all new records eclipsing the #6, 434 units and 2.1% share reached last June. The VW Passat (+226.7%), Nissan Qashqai (+96.9%) and Ford Focus (+70.7%) also outpace the market in the Top 10. Below the Model 3, the VW T-Cross (#20), Toyota Corolla (#24), Skoda Scala (#43), Mazda CX-30 (#52) and Citroen C5 Aircross (#58) dominate new launches.
