Turkey July 2019: BMW, Mercedes, Audi contain losses in imploding market (-66%)

The Audi Q2 is up to #22 in Turkey in July.

After a slight pause at “just” -16.4% in June, the Turkish new light vehicle market resumes its implosion at a ghastly -66% in July to only 17.927 units, pulling the year-to-date volume down -47.5% to 213.071. Out of the 40 brands present on the Turkish market, only Land Rover (+31.3%), Jaguar (+100%) and Aston Martin (+100%) manage a year-on-year gain this month, albeit all at or under 0.5% share. The Top 4 most popular brands all manage to fall a little slower than the market: Renault (-59.9%) distances Fiat (-63.9%), Hyundai (-42.6%) and Toyota (-55.6%) but Ford (-79.7%), Volkswagen (-76.6%) and Peugeot (-68.6%) lose share. Below, BMW (-23%), Jeep (-41.4%), Mercedes (-43.2%) and Audi (-44.4%) manage to somewhat contain their losses.

In the models ranking, the Fiat Egea (-55.7%) remains the best-seller ahead of the Renault Megane (-48.5%), Clio (-51.8%), Toyota Corolla (-53.3%) and Honda Civic (-62.7%) roughly reproducing the YTD Top 5 (swap Megane and Clio). The Hyundai Accent Blue (-22.5%) leaps from outside the June Top 25 directly to #9 while the Audi Q2 (+246.3%), BMW 3 Series (+72.5%), Mercedes C-Class (+60.3%) and BMW 5 Series (+29.3%) all post market-defying gains in the remainder of the Top 25.
