Poland August 2019: Toyota Corolla (+156.1%), Dacia Duster (+105.8%) oust Skoda Octavia and Fabia from podium
The Toyota Corolla is the best-selling vehicle in Poland for the 4th consecutive month.
The Polish new light vehicle market is logically down -12.6% year-on-year in August to 54.099 units as post-WLTP hangover engulfs most European Union markets. The year-to-date volume remains however in positive at +0.6% to 422.030, a new record. Sales of passenger cars endure a steeper decline at -14.7% to 47.249 units tilting YTD tally into negative at -0.2% to 367.481 registrations. Volkswagen (-13.2%) takes the brands lead for the first time since last August at 11.4% share, stepping up to #2 in the YTD order. Skoda (-18.2%) is knocked down to #2 while Toyota (-29.6%) implodes to #3. Dacia (+47.7%) and Kia (+43%) are among the most dynamic in the entire market this month, while Suzuki leaps up 7 spots on July to a record 8th place. In the Passenger Car ranking, Dacia is up to #4, Suzuki up to #6 and Seat up to #11.
Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla (+156.1%) manages to remain the best-selling nameplate in the country for the 4th consecutive month, followed closely by the Dacia Duster (+105.8%) with the VW Golf (-8.3%) rounding up the podium. This means there are no Skodas on the Polish monthly podium for the first time in 10 years, and potentially all the way back since 2000! as the Octavia (-35.5%) is down to #4 and the Fabia (-19.9%) down to #5. The Suzuki Vitara (+464.3%) leaps up 22 spots to #7, the Seat Leon (-40%) is up 20 to #8, with the Opel Corsa (+105.8%), Kia Cee’d (+89.1%), VW T-Roc (#18), Suzuki Baleno (#22) and SX4 S-Cross (#24) also making waves. Once again the exclusive Passenger Car ranking benefits new launches, with the Skoda Scala up 21 ranks on July to #26, the VW T-Cross up 5 spots to #38 and the Seat Arona breaking into the Top 50 for the first time at #45.
